We are Year 9 students from
Preston Manor, and we called
charity organisations to find out
their views and opinions on
Poverty.
Firstly we called Roger Elbourne
from the 'Make Poverty History'
charity organisation, London
branch, to ask him whether we
were able to interview him. He
willingly accepted.
His overall view was that: 'There is an impossible end
to poverty; however in some
countries in particular, it could
end if their government put their
minds to it'.
The 'Make Poverty History'
organisation helps over 70
countries in Africa, Asia, and the UK.
He also reckons that they are
'doing better than the
government'.
The second person we spoke to was a staff member of the
'Oxfam' charity organisation and
her overall opinion on Poverty
was that 'The rules of unfair
trade should be changed and the local government from their
countries should set up health
care services. Also poverty is possible to end if more people get involved'.
The 'Oxfam' organisation uses a range of approaches to achieve change and improve people's lives including saving lives through emergency response and
campaigning to achieve lasting change.
We thanked these people for their time and help.
